Ukrainian Air Force Faces Persistent Challenge from Iranian Drones, says Air Force Spokesperson

In a recent interview with "Ukrainian Truth," Yuriy Ihnat, spokesperson for the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, highlighted the ongoing issue of Iranian drones posing a significant challenge for the Ukrainian Air Force. Ihnat revealed that these drones, launched deliberately by Russia at night, have been aimed at depleting Ukrainian air defense capabilities.

The spokesperson expressed his concerns, stating, "Iranian drones continue to be a headache for us. They remain elusive targets, making it difficult to shoot them down. When numerous drones are in flight, they employ diverse flight paths, flying close to the ground, making it arduous for our aircraft to intercept them. With the drone's speed capped at 150 km/h, while a fighter jet flies at a minimum of 400 km/h, the situation becomes increasingly complex."

Ihnat further emphasized the challenge of countering these Iranian drones during nighttime operations. He explained that the ground forces' air defense systems and mobile fire groups have been unable to effectively neutralize the threat posed by these drones during nocturnal encounters.

The persistence of Iranian drone activity and their strategic use by Russia at night has become a pressing issue for the Ukrainian Air Force, necessitating the exploration of more robust countermeasures to safeguard the nation's airspace.
